Peter Magubane is one of the world’s most respected photojournalists. He has captured on film some of the most violent and defining moments In South Africa’s turbulent past.
In this, the first of a two-part documentary, we look at Peter’s early career as a Drum, and later Rand Daily Mail photographer, and explore the events that shaped not only his images, but the man himself in the build-up to 16th June 1976.

Episode 2 – 24mins
In this, the second of a two-part documentary, we explore Peter’s in-depth coverage of the 1976 Soweto uprising – the lengths he went to - to get the pictures and how these images revealed to the world the injustice and ruthless violence inflicted at the hands of Apartheid.
